Monastero di Fonte Avellana, Via Fonte Avellana, 1, Serra Sant'Abbondio, Pesaro e Urbino, Italy

Founded in 980, it was presided over by two influential figures in medieval monastic history, St Romuald and his disciple St Peter Damian, who was prior here from 1043 until his death in 1072. Dante Alighieri stayed here in 1318 and described the hermitage in Canto XXI of Paradise in "The Divine Comedy".
